Frequently Asked Questions

How is telehealth provided?

Telehealth is provided by phone or video. Phone sessions are a direct phone call to your telephone. Video sessions are provided through secure HIPAA-compliant services, Google Meet and Doxy. When a video session is scheduled, you will receive an invite via email (or other preferred communication method) with a link to the virtual meeting room. You can access both Google Meet and Doxy from your web browser without downloading any apps or creating any new accounts.

What technology do i need to be able to participate in telehealth?

Video sessions can be done via your phone, tablet, or a computer with a camera. For video sessions, you will need video and microphone capabilities on your device, and ensure the right permissions are given. You can access the links in advance to test your connection and troubleshoot any technology issues prior to the start of the appointment. Many people find earphones, earbuds, or headphones helpful in preventing sound disruptions or feedback noises.

Are there any additional privacy precautions I need to take with telehealth?

Yes! In the age of smart devices and smart homes, there are additional things you’ll want to consider.

  • Be sure to log out of all sessions and accounts when not in use to ensure someone else using your device does not have access to your confidential information

  • Ensure your devices have up to date security protections and are free from viruses, malware, etc.

  • Be aware of devices that may be listening (Alexa, Siri, voice-command, etc.) and mute any device you don’t want listening

  • Be sure you have physical privacy and that no one is in the room with you or able to hear the session take place
