Online and In-Person Holistic Therapy for Anxiety in Illinois & North Carolina
Therapy for high-achieving and over-functioning women who are exhausted from overthinking and perfectionism. They’re looking for more than just talking, they want therapy that targets the mind, body, and soul in holistic methods with an expert and not just another self-help book or e-course.

Therapy for people who are tired of saying everything is “fine” when it actually isn’t
I work with the “over-functioners”, the high-achieving adults who serve as the engine for everyone else’s lives. They are the masters at overthinking and perfectionism, which feels like both a blessing and a curse that they know isn’t working for them, but they’re so afraid of not doing it and everything falling apart. They put on the smile and “I’m fine” mask, hiding the exhaustion and burnout that is building on the inside. They are the planner, the protector, and the person everyone relies on, but their own needs have often fall off the to-do list.
Who This therapy is Designed For
I work with high-achieving and over-functioning adults who have natural type-A tendencies, and tend to carry the higher mental load in their relationship, family, or workplace. Many are women who balance caring for spouses, kids, and aging parents, while progressing their careers, maintaining their social circles, and trying to remember to eat lunch. They feel like they run around all day making sure as many boxes get checked off as possible and trying to plan ahead, but their brains are focusing on the things that might slip through the cracks or need a plan to pivot.
What tends to bring you here: your brain is always on with more mental tabs than you can keep track of (and you know some got lost or forgotten, but you’re not quite sure what until it’s too late), you’re exhausted giving your energy to everyone and everything without feeling others do the same for you (but you feel too guilty to ask or can’t quite trust it would get done “right” anyway), and you feel an emptiness where you think you should feel fulfilled. You think yoga, Reiki, tarot, and other spiritual practices sound like they could be so helpful, but you’re just not sure where to start and feel like your brain can’t get quiet enough (or fully believe in it enough) to get into it on your own.
Your logical and rational brain is strong, you can look at this from all the different ways and map out solutions. The problem is that if you could “think” your way out of this, you would have done it by now. You’re looking for an expert to help you reconnect your thinking brain with your feeling body, learn ways to better protect and recharge your emotional energy, and feel guilt-free about closing the mental tabs to be fully present with the people you love.
When Another Specialist Might Serve You Better
This therapy is not the right fit if you’re in acute psychiatric crisis, if you’re actively struggling with substance use, or an active eating disorder. While DBT is a part of my therapy approach, this therapy is not aligned with a traditional DBT program and is not right for you if you have been referred specifically to DBT by a medical provider or treatment center. This therapy is not for children/teens, couples, or families. I work with individual adults.
Clinical Framework & Style
My clinical therapy method comes primarily from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which combines methods from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and acceptance, supporting people in finding the balance between acceptance and change in their lives. Often times my clients who have done CBT before are looking for something that is more than just changing their thoughts and behaviors, feeling this approach has invalidated their emotions and experiences. DBT goes beyond CBT to incorporate mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance so clients have a well equipped toolbox for navigating a wide range of emotions that come up. I also pull from additional counseling theories, such as:
Humanistic Theory: emphasis on the inherent goodness of individuals in supportive spaces
Person-Centered: emphasizing your capacity for self-direction
Energy Psychology: how the body’s energy systems influence emotions and promote healing
Behavioral: observing and unlearning old patterns, and creating new routines & habits
Relational Theory: how relationships influence your sense of self and well-being
Feminist Theory: highlighting empowerment and equality from ways gender and systemic oppression impact you
Holistic practices come from Energy Psychology theories. The practices include: yoga to support the mind-body connection and physical release of emotions, Reiki to support energetic shifts and mindfulness of emotions in the body, and tarot or oracle cards to support the connection to your intuition in your healing journey. You do not need any previous knowledge or experience with any holistic practices before coming to holistic therapy. You choose which practices you’d like to explore in the therapy space, and I will guide you through them throughout the process.
I provide individual therapy to adults in IL, NC, & SC. Sessions include talk therapy and holistic practices. Holistic practices are all optional, and you have to option to decline any/all of the holistic practices in your therapy plan. All therapy and holistic practices can be done online in IL, NC, and SC, or in-person in Matthews, NC.
Credentials & experience
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 13 years of clinical therapeutic experience. I’ve worked with overthinkers and perfectionists for more than a decade who are exhausted and burnt-out from chronic worrying and second-guessing. I’ve spent years helping women move from survival mode back into trusting themselves and feeling more confident in making decisions aligned with their values. I’ve worked with women who have done therapy before and were looking for something more than just CBT and changing how they think. I am a yoga teacher, a Reiki Master, and have specific training in ethically bringing yoga, Reiki, and tarot into psychotherapy. The holistic practices that I’m trained and experienced in help me to support women in healing their mind, body, and soul all together in therapy.
